A 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded approximately 60 kilometers northeast of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda on Friday, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC).
The seismic event occurred at 5:11 pm local time (21:11 UTC), with its epicenter located at latitude 17.61N and longitude 61.64W, at a depth of 15 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in neighboring islands, with the epicenter situated about 110 kilometers northeast of Brades, Montserrat, and 126 kilometers east-northeast of Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis.
The UWI-SRC notes that these are preliminary findings based on automatic computer calculations and may be subject to revision pending evaluation by their analysts.
