A vibrant 90-year-old Antiguan and Barbudan author, teacher and entrepreneur, Miriam Samuel a.k.a. Grandma Mirie, will participate in Black History Month celebrations in the U.K. throughout the month of October. As part of her 30-day ‘Legacy Book Tour’ she is taking readers on a virtual journey, connecting them with major settings and themes in her book, Mirie’s Magic Recipe: Loving, Leading, Legacy.

As a culinary creative, Grandma Mirie is passionate about elevating traditional Caribbean products that nourish the body, mind and soul. She will launch “Mirie’s Magic Recipe Box” which is a line extension of her book. This specialty package is designed to indulge all of the senses and enhance the reading experience. It includes a copy of Mirie’s book, a curated playlist, and a range of her agro-products — jams, jellies, wines, teas, soaps, essential oils and nutritional supplements . Grandma Mirie’s story comes to life as readers “unbox” this package to savor items pulled directly from descriptions in the book.
Arguably one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most active seniors, Miriam was honored with the “Extraordinary Achievement Award” at the Caribbean Global Awards in London, on September 28th. Among her accomplishments are her dedication to education for over 40 years and her innovative approach to agro-processing that has led to the creation of over 90 diverse products, all made from her backyard garden’s harvest.
