The system of corrupt governance has spread to international areas like the Airport and our Port, our gateways from and to the world. The trickle down from the top of our self-enrichment platform passes through the government system where to quote our Father of the Nation, “Where you tie, you eat!”
This is how the government manages to keep hundreds of persons underpaid by the Treasury, forced to get topped up by the private sector, or by racketeering through the Airport and Port.

In this era of frequent elections, it is necessary to employ non-Antiguan managers to guard our gates with the knowledge that there is no risk of patriotism blighting the enrichment schemes. These non-nationals create the bureaucratic umbrella for those politically placed under them to carry out the orders of those with the authorizing signature.
Both the Airport & Port are being run by remote control where politics and greed hold sway, ignoring the Standards and Obligations of International Port and Airport Regulations, and carrying out their schemes with private sector friends and political affiliates.
These Security failures are serious, because reputation is everything where border control is concerned, and if it becomes known that slackness in border control and administration is evident, the international regulators will downgrade the island, and only the island suffers.
The time is long past, where Antigua which was first out there in Aviation and among the first with a Deep Water Harbour, where now, not to have its borders, sea and air, fully operational according to international regulatory requirements, is a shame. Passing the buck has become the top management’s response to crises which have overtones of political interference.
When police and other high positioned officers of Government are able to breach entry and exit areas of the Port and Airport, moving people and product past the regulatory platforms with ease and with no interference, the time has come for overhaul by international regulators, brought in either to demand reform, or invited in by Government to prevent charges of serious violations.
