Loop News: The Office of the Prime Minister of Grenada has issued a statement denying any involvement in discussions regarding the deportation of migrants to Grenada.
The government emphasized that no such proposal has been presented or considered by the administration.
This clarification comes in response to concerns raised by an NBC News article that suggested that the incoming Trump administration might be planning to deport certain migrants to countries other than their country of origin.

The NBC article raised concerns and speculation among Grenadians about their country’s potential role in such a plan.
In its statement, the Grenadian government reassured citizens that no official talks or agreements have taken place concerning the deportation of migrants to the island.
Meantime, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas were also listed as part of the plan.
The Bahamas has made it clear that the government would not accept migrants from other countries sent from the United States.
The government issued a statement on Thursday clarifying “that while the proposal was presented to the Government of The Bahamas, it was thoroughly reviewed and decisively rejected by Prime Minister Davis.”
“The Bahamas simply does not have the resources to accommodate such a request,” the statement read, emphasizing that the Prime Minister’s priorities remain centred on addressing the needs and concerns of the Bahamian people.

“Since the Prime Minister’s rejection of this proposal, there has been no further engagement or discussions with the Trump transition team or any other entity regarding this matter. The Government of The Bahamas remains committed in its position.”
