The second Friday of every new year, often called Quitters Day, marks the moment many abandon their resolutions and dreams. But this year, Grandma Mirie has a different vision. At 90 years old, the retired teacher, author, and entrepreneur is calling on everyone to reclaim January 10th as a day of prosperity, resilience, and hope.
“Life, like a good pot of tea, isn’t brewed in a hurry,” Grandma Mirie shares. “It takes patience, love, and a little stirring along the way. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built step by step.”

Her journey is a testament to that wisdom. Widowed at 73, she embraced a new chapter, managing her family’s finances and building a thriving agro-processing business fueled by her love for gardening and natural products. Each cup of tea she brewed became a quiet reminder that even small, consistent actions can spark remarkable change.
To help others persevere, Grandma Mirie offers three tips for keeping resolutions:
- Remind Yourself Why You Started
Revisit the motivation behind your goal—whether it’s fitness, sobriety, or financial stability. A strong “why” keeps you anchored.
- Redefine Failure
Missteps are human, not defeat. Instead of giving up after a bad day, give yourself grace and keep going.
- Seek Encouragement
Surround yourself with people who believe in you. When support feels scarce, remember Grandma Mirie’s words of faith in your journey.

Now, she is inviting the public to join her in a spirit of persistence. On January 12th, she will co-host Sunday Brunch & ProsperiTEA at Julee’s, which will showcase her signature tea blends. This event will inspire reflection and foster meaningful connections among like-minded individuals.

For those unable to attend in person, the Pathway to Prosperity Webinar on January 16th, hosted by SamuelFields Consulting Group (SFCG), offers a virtual experience packed with expert insights. Participants will gain the tools to build financial confidence, secure their future, and turn passions into thriving opportunities.
“Let’s make a pact this year,” says Grandma Mirie, recently named Chief Kindness Officer at SFCG. “We won’t let Quitters Day define us, because prosperity is just around the corner. Your future is still brewing—let’s savor it together.”
