On Saturday, February 15, Dominica celebrated United Airlines’ inaugural flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), marking the second nonstop flight route from the United States to Dominica. The new service operates on Saturdays, departing Newark at 9:10 a.m. EST and arriving in Dominica at 2:39 p.m. AST on a Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The return flight departs Dominica at 3:45 p.m. AST and arrives in Newark at 7:51 p.m. EST.
“This flight is not just about adding another route. It’s about transformation. It’s about breaking barriers, opening doors, and unlocking new possibilities for tourism, business, and personal travel,” said Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton, Dominica’s Minister of Tourism. “Dominica is now more connected to the world than ever before. This means more visitors filling our hotels, eating in our restaurants, exploring our rainforests, diving into our waters and experiencing the warm hospitality that makes Dominica unique.”

The inaugural flight kicked off with a gate event at Newark Liberty International Airport, where Dominican dignitaries, local and airport officials, and travelers gathered to celebrate the new route to the Caribbean’s Nature Island. Upon arrival at Douglas-Charles Airport, passengers were greeted with a water cannon salute and a celebratory welcome from the Discover Dominica Authority and island officials.
