War ain’t no Sunday Brunch

Dem Boys Seh, Features / Columnists

Kaieteur News- Dem boys hear some people hollering fuh war. Dem want Guyana send gunboat fuh chase out dem Venezuelan navy from we waters. But hear nah, is best dem same people put on some floaties and go swim out deh, cause Guyana navy barely got enough boat fuh patrol dehself far less go playing battleship with Venezuela.

Anybody who talking ‘bout military action need fuh tek a deep breath and ask demself one question—if a confrontation start, how long it gon last? Five minutes. That’s it. Five minutes before Venezuela overpower anything we could put out deh. Dem boys ain’t making joke. Venezuela military bigger, better equipped, and been preparing fuh fight long before we even find oil.

Some people seh de government shoulda strengthen de army. But look how long we bin strengthening de army. This government put more resources in defence than any other sector. Even Burnham could not prevent Venezuela from tekkin’ half of Ankoko without a single bullet fire. So wha dem really want?

Guyana ain’t a war country. We defence always been diplomacy. From day one, we been handling this thing de way it should—through de courts, through diplomacy, through common sense. Cause war ain’t no picnic in de park. Look at Gaza, look at Ukraine. Is death, destruction, and misery. And anybody who think war gon boost nationalism need fuh tek a trip to them places and see if dem still feel patriotic when bombs start falling.

Dem boys seh, let de big boys handle this de right way. Guyana never back down, but we also never stupid. War ain’t fuh we, and it never was.

Talk half. Leff half.
