Kaieteur News- The overwhelming interest in Petra Organisation’s 2025 Milo/Massy Under-18 Football Championship has led to an exciting new qualification system. Teams now have the golden opportunity to earn their spot in the tournament through high-stakes elimination playoffs.
Yesterday, the Georgetown district saw four intense elimination matches, with Brickdam Secondary, Saints Stanislaus College, Tutorial High, and St John’s College emerging victorious. These teams will battle again today in the final round, where only two will secure a place in the prestigious 11th edition of the competition. The tournament officially kicks off next weekend at the Ministry of Education Complex and Queen’s College Ground in Georgetown.
The competition is fierce, with only 24 teams set to make the final cut. In the Region Four qualifiers, Brickdam Secondary dominated Pure Master Academy 6-2, powered by a sensational five-goal performance from Samuel Gasper.
Saints Stanislaus College delivered a commanding 6-2 win over Bishops High, thanks to braces from Keishawn Ramsay and Satirius Taylor. Meanwhile, Tutorial High defeated Tucville 3-1 with goals from Travis Grogan, Desean Sookam, and Azariel Pilgrim. St John’s College initially edged North Ruimveldt (Multilateral) 8-7 on penalties, but Multilateral was later disqualified for breaching tournament rules.
Today’s decisive qualifiers at the MoE Ground will see Brickdam take on Tutorial, while Saints go head-to-head with St John’s for the final two Georgetown spots. Qualification matches will continue across other regions on Tuesday and Wednesday, ensuring that only the best teams advance to the main event.
With defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation eager to retain their title, the stage is set for another thrilling edition of the country’s most anticipated youth football tournament.
