Four Antiguan Medical Students Graduate from Cuban University
Four bright Antiguan minds have achieved a remarkable milestone, graduating as doctors from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Cuba.
On July 12th, Dr. Neejah Crump, Dr. Sadik Spencer, Dr. Alex Kelsick, and Dr. Michelle Jeffrey, the valedictorian of their class, celebrated the culmination of seven years of rigorous study and training.

This institution provided these dedicated students with an education rooted in the principles of primary healthcare and community-oriented medical practice.
Dr. Michelle Jeffrey, the valedictorian, exemplified academic excellence and leadership throughout her time at ELAM. Her dedication and hard work earned her the top spot in her class, a testament to her commitment to becoming a physician capable of making a significant impact on her community.
Dr. Neejah Crump, Dr. Sadik Spencer, and Dr. Alex Kelsick also demonstrated outstanding perseverance and dedication. Each brought unique strengths and perspectives to their studies, enriching the learning experience for themselves and their peers.
Dr. Jeffrey eloquently stated in her valedictory address, “Now, as university graduates, we are in an unrivaled position to make a difference in the world.
We have the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to face any competition and generate a positive impact in our communities. Whenever you face challenges, remember everything you have learned here, remember that you are capable of much more than you think. Today we celebrate this achievement, but also what is to come.”

Now, as they return to Antigua, these new doctors are eager to apply their knowledge and skills to benefit their homeland.
