Ramesh Chattergoon smacks 110* in ESCL T20, Over-40

Kaieteur Sports- An enterprising, unbeaten 110 from Ramesh Chattergoon was not good enough for his team Devonshire Castle against Essequibo Legends who beat them by a thrilling one-wicket margin in the latest round last Sunday in the 2025 Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) T20, Over-40 competition.

Playing at Reliance Sports ground, Essequibo Coast, Region 2, the right-handed Chattergoon clobbered 12 sixes and two fours during his 48-ball show.
His team tallied up 165-0 from the reduced 15-overs while Essequibo Legends surpassed the target with just a ball remaining.
The reduction of the overs was due to a late start.
Chattergoon got support from Latchman Singh with 40 not out.
When Essequibo Legends batted, Naresh Narine led the way with a responsible 45 while the consistent Imam Gafoor added 30 valuable runs.
And at the same venue earlier in the day, Reliance Sports Club claimed a walk-over from Richmond United. United failed to field a side.
Across at Affiance ground also on the Coast, Untouchables humbled Queenstown Tigers by 56 runs.
Untouchables rattled up a formidable 234-4 from the reduced 15-overs while Queenstown Tigers only responded with 178 all out in 14.5 overs. The game was reduced to 15-overs because of rain.
Kemraj Imrit struck an aggressive 73 which contained five sixes and three fours for the winner. He received solid support from the inform and former Senior Essequibo Inter-County opening batsman Ravi Beharry who made 57.
Lloyd Innis, Tigers’ frontline batter, offered some resistance with an impressive half-century (54).
In the other fixture between defending champion Caribbean Cricket Club 2 and Hibernia Strikers was abandoned due to rain.
Strikers were struggling at 93-4 off eight overs when rain intervened and ultimately halted proceedings.
Joel Dasilva hit a top-score for Caribbean Cricket Club 2 with 48, while Latchman Rohit and Eshwar Singh chipped in with 33 and 32 respectively as their team raced to 236-6 from the 20-overs.
Meanwhile, the 8-team round-robin tournament is slated to continue today, Sunday, with four more matches at various venues.
From 10 am, Caribbean Cricket Club 2 will take on Devonshire Castle at Hibernia and at the same facility from 1:30 pm, Reliance Sports Club will tackle Hibernia Strikers.
And over at Zorg Beach from 10 am, Untouchables will meet up with Richmond United and also at 10 am on the above-mentioned Beach, Essequibo Legends and Queenstown Tigers will do battle.
This year’s edition is expected to climax on May 25 at a venue to be named. The champion side will take home $100,000 and a trophy. Other monetary prizes and trophies are also at stake.
