Kaieteur News- A 24-year-old Corentyne, Berbice labourer tragically lost his life Saturday evening, after he was run over by a vehicle, which crushed his head and caused other injuries about his body.
Tameshwar Mangru called “Brian”
The dead man has been identified as Tameshwar Mangru, called “Brian”. Police reported that at around 00:58h on Sunday, ranks ventured to the scene, where they saw Mangru lying motionless, with a crushed head and what appeared to be brain matter scattered on the Lesbeholden, Black Bush Polder Public Road.
The victim was clad in black long pants and a black jersey.
“The body was examined for further marks of violence, and it was observed that his left hand appeared to be broken, a wound to his left side neck area and bruises on his left hand,” police reported.
Mangru’s body was picked up and taken to the Mibicuri Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later taken to Ramoo’s Funeral Parlour, where he was identified by a relative.
Further examination at the funeral parlour found two circular puncture wounds on the left side of Mangru’s neck and shoulder. “The body also displayed injuries consistent with being run over by a vehicle,” the police report stated.
Several persons in the area were contacted and questioned about the incident. However, no useful information was obtained. Ranks also canvassed the area for any closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras that may have captured footage, but none were found.
The suspect who allegedly drove over the victim is yet to be apprehended.
Investigations are ongoing.
