Man buys $80,000 worth of drinks from banks with fake money   

The cash he paid for the beverages

Kaieteur News- A Friendship East Bank Demerara (EBD) was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly conned a Banks DIH cashier by purchasing $80,000 worth of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with counterfeit, $5000 notes.

In police custody, Tristan Saphan Franklyn

The suspect, Tristan Saphan Franklyn, a 26-year-old Labourer was nabbed with more of the fake cash in his possession.

Police said that at around 07:59hrs he went to Banks DIH Limited, located at Brickdam and Cornhill Street, Stabroek Georgetown and ordered some $80,000 worth alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

He then paid her the amount in $5000 notes but later she realized that they were fake.

When ranks arrested Franklyn, he had a haversack on him containing a total of $180,000 of the same fake $5000 notes.

He is in custody as investigations continue.
