Crisis-man Kevlon Anderson carried the Harpy Eagles for yet another game.
Kaieteur Sports- A collective bowling exhibition from the Leewards Islands Hurricanes, backed by a dashing fifty from opener Mikyle Louis, dampened the efforts of the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ Kevlon Anderson who scored an unbeaten 77, following a tough opening day for the champs at Warner Park, St. Kitts and Nevis.

Four-day cricket resumed as crunch stages got underway yesterday across the region, with Eagles middle-order batsman Anderson standing tall amidst a dismal card as his 77 not out off 96 balls (10×4 1×6), was the focal point of the Champs first innings batting outing.
Guyana were bowled out for 193 in 44 overs, during the afternoon session of the first innings. The Hurricanes, as expected, flexed their international experience with their wealth of former and current West Indies players.
The experienced core of off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall (3-25), pacer Oshane Thomas (2-48), leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr. (2-26) and all-rounder Justin Greaves (2-30) did a fantastic job in keeping the high-scoring Eagles under 200 runs.
Only all-rounders Keemo Paul who smacked six fours in his 31 off 24 and Ronaldo Alimohamed, who scored 31 with five fours and a six, kept the Eagles flying after a series of failures from their premier batsmen.
The misfiring’s of openers, Raymond Perez (10) and Matthew Nandu (10) along with key middle-order batters in; Vice-Captain Kemol Savory (4) and skipper Tevin Imlach (5), put Guyana on the backfoot during the first day.
Hurricanes skipper Rahkeem Cornwall led a comprehensive bowling outing assault yesterday.
Thomas, a key figure in the West Indies limited overs setup, provided the venom needed during his spell, while the slower bowlers in Cornwall and Walsh, used their experience and guile to manipulate the Eagles, with equal support from the Test player Greaves, who removed the big wicket of Savory.
Leewards at stumps were 143-3 in their 1st innings, 50 runs behind thanks to a brisk knock of 76 off 67 balls from Test opener Mikyle Louis. Louis set the tone with seven fours and three maximums before his untimely departure.
Kadeeem Henry (22) got into double figures, while the highly-rated Jewel Andrew raced to 16 off 14 with three fours, as much will rest on the shoulders of overnight batsman, Keacy Carty (20*) when he resumes today.
Day 2’s session will continue from 10:00h today.
