Family fears missing 83-year-old man dead

Kaieteur News- The family of an 83-year-old man who went missing following his discharge from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) three months ago fears he may be dead.
Missing: Gordon Joseph, also called Mr. Whites
The missing man, Gordon Joseph, referred to as ‘Mr. Whites’ reportedly went missing in early January. He was constantly on the street due to struggles with cocaine addiction, his family stated.
His son, 55-year-old Gordon Branch, explained that he had become accustomed to his father spending time on the streets and no longer bothered him about it. In early January, Branch took his father to the hospital due to health concerns. Because of his busy schedule, Branch provided the necessary information, and Joseph was admitted. However, when Branch’s relative inquired about his father’s whereabouts days later, Branch informed them that Joseph was likely still in the hospital. However, they later discovered he had been discharged.
“It’s a normal thing with my dad,” Branch said.
He continued, “When he gets discharged, he goes to the street.” Since Joseph had been in and out of the hospital in the past, Branch did not immediately search for him, assuming he had returned to his usual spot on the street.
However, when relatives began inquiring about Joseph’s whereabouts after hearing rumors of his death, Branch became concerned. “I didn’t think my dad had died,” he said. Concerned, Branch searched the areas his father frequented. However, he was nowhere to be seen.
Branch then visited the hospital, where registry staff confirmed his father had been admitted but was discharged. He was advised to check the morgue, but when he did, Joseph’s body was not there. Branch then filed a missing person report with the police.
The family is now left with more questions than answers, hoping for any information about the whereabouts of the elderly man, whose health and well-being remain uncertain.
