Kaieteur News- What began as a simple handmade gift for a beloved teacher has blossomed into something much more meaningful for 10-year-old Deepika Latchman. With a heart full of creativity and hands eager to create, Latchman is now the entrepreneur behind Radiant Roses by Romina, a growing small business offering delicate, handcrafted bouquets.

It all started in early 2024, when Deepika then just nine years old wanted to bring something special to school for Teacher’s Day.
“It was teacher day and she wanted to make a gift to take to school, so I was watching her and observing that she was making a rose, I see it how she make it and how it came out, and I randomly took a picture of it,” her mother, Roshanie Rupert told The Waterfalls.
Though Latchman ended up not taking that first rose to school, thinking it wasn’t good enough, it was the beginning of something unexpectedly beautiful. Her mother snapped a photo of the rose and casually shared it on WhatsApp. The next day, a teacher messaged her asking if she made bouquets for sale.
The mother said, “A teacher, she messaged me and she asked me if I am doing bouquet because she liked it and I explained to her that it’s my daughter’s work … It felt inspiring that … I pushed her (Deepika) to make and do it more.”
Deepika’s inspiration came from a video she saw online of another person crafting bouquets. The young child told this publication, “I watched video online, and I saw a girl making a bouquet and I got inspired for making bouquet.”
She named her business Radiant Roses by Romina, a brand that reflects the elegance and brightness of her creations. From simple ribbon roses to full Valentine’s Day arrangements, Deepika’s work is already turning heads in her community.
Behind the scenes, her support system has been just as important as her artistic talent. “My family, friends, and teachers have all helped me,” she says. “They’ve supported my business, helped with marketing, packaging, and even posting on social media.”
Still, like any entrepreneur, no matter the age, Latchman has faced her fair share of challenges. “Getting orders has been hard sometimes,” she admits. “And mixing the colours is the hardest part.”
But the small business hasn’t stopped growing, and neither has Latchman’s determination. With every bouquet, she sees progress. “I’ve seen improvements in my work,” she says. “I want my business to be bigger and better.”
And while her roses may be blooming, Latchman has dreams that stretch far beyond the bouquet table. When she grows up, she wants to become a doctor, a goal she’s just as passionate about.
Her mom sees this journey as much more than a business; it’s about watching her daughter grow in confidence, skill, and self-belief. “It’s been so inspiring,” says Ms. Rupert.
