One dead, two injured in Nappi motorcycle collision

Kaieteur News- A motorcycle collision on Thursday along the Nappi trail, Region Nine has left one man dead and two injured.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 18:15hrs and it involved motorcycle # CG 6196, owned and driven by Deon McDonald, with pillion rider Evangelist Gabriel, and another motorcycle (number unknown) owned and driven by Hamlette Henrico, all of Nappi Village, Central Rupununi.
“Initial investigations revealed that the driver of motorcycle (# unknown) was proceeding south along the left side of Nappi (trail) road at an alleged fast rate while the driver of motorcycle # CG 6196 was on the said (trail) road proceeding west approaching an intersection,” police said.
According to reports, as McDonald approached the said intersection, he did not stop but made a right turn into the path of Henrico, causing him to take evasive action to avoid a collision. However, his actions proved futile and both riders as well as the pillion rider were flung off of their motorcycles, sustaining injuries.
A doctor who was in the vicinity rendered assistance, upon examination, he pronounced Henrico dead on the scene. McDonald and Gabriel were picked up by members of the public and taken to the Nappi Health Centre, and were subsequently transferred to the Lethem Regional Hospital via an ambulance.
They were both admitted to the hospital. Henrico’s body was taken to the Lethem Mortuary where it awaits a post mortem examination.
Investigations are in progress.
