Kaieteur Sports- Bush Lot Secondary’s spirited campaign came to a crashing halt on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, as tournament favourites Chase’s Academic Foundation dismantled the West Berbice side 10-1 to secure their place in Wednesday’s semifinals of the Petra-organised Milo/Massy Secondary Schools Under-18 Football Championship.

The competition took a decisive step toward crowning its 2025 champions, with the conclusion of the quarterfinal stage seeing Dolphin Secondary, West Ruimveldt Secondary, and Waramuri Top Secondary also booking spots in the final four.
Dolphin Secondary maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament with a dominant 4-0 win over Three Mile Secondary. Collin Frank-David netted twice, while Ezekiel Frank-David (39’) and Seon Grant (67’) each added a goal to send Dolphin through to face West Ruimveldt in the semis.
Chase’s Academic Foundation wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just two minutes into the match, a Bush Lot defender inadvertently scored an own goal while attempting to clear an early threat, gifting Chase the lead. Eight minutes later, Nyron Barrow doubled the advantage with a clinical finish after slicing through the defence. Wharton then made it 3-0 with a stunning set-piece strike.

Right-winger Neeiaz Baksh, after several near misses, capitalised on a defensive error to smash home a beauty during the middle phase. Isaiah Ifill also had a standout performance, bagging a brace in the 17th and 50th minutes. Wharton completed his glut with strikes in the 26th, 35th, 75th, and 85th minutes in a relentless display of finishing.
In another quarterfinal clash, West Ruimveldt Secondary overpowered a usually solid President’s College side 3-0. Team captain Jeremiah Griffith led from the front, registering a superb hat-trick with goals in the 20th, 28th, and 41st minutes to seal the win and guide his team into the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Waramuri Top Secondary secured the final semifinal berth with a convincing 2-0 victory over Charlestown Secondary. After taking a 1-0 lead into the opening half, complements to Erwin Booker 26-minute stunner, Waramuri’s defence held firm, led by their Region #1 goalkeeper. Second-half goals from Orwin Abrams confirmed their place in the next round, where they will face Chase’s Academic Foundation for a spot in the final.
The tournament is proudly sponsored by Nestlé Milo and Massy Distribution, with additional support from MVP Sports and the National Sports Commission. It is coordinated by the Petra Organisation and sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
The stage is now set for two thrilling semifinal clashes on Wednesday, April 16, at the same venue. Fans are encouraged to come out and witness which teams will battle for glory in Saturday’s grand finale.
