Reg. 1 RDC to spend $211M to build health centres at Moruca & Mabaruma

Kaieteur News- The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region One intends to construct several health centres in communities located in Moruca and Mabaruma at an estimated cost of $211 million.

This is according to an invitation for bids issued by the RDC. The bids are scheduled to be opened on April 29, 2025 at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office.

Health centres will be constructed at Cloud Land, Moruca at an estimated cost of $43,500,000, Arawanza and Haimaruni also in Moruca at an estimated cost of $42,000,000, each.

In Mabaruma, a health hut will be built at Mabaruma Settlement at an estimated of $42,000,000, while a health centre will be constructed at Aruka Mouth at an estimated cost of $42,000,000.

This publication understands that the projects will form part of the $2.3 billion which was allocated for health services in Region One this year.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony on numerous occasions said that the government is constructing health centres and posts across the country to complement the regional hospitals and ensure modern facilities for healthcare workers across the regions.

This is aimed at decentralizing and expanding the range of public healthcare services provided to citizens, enhancing accessibility for communities nationwide.
