Kaieteur Sports- All-rounder Bhrishan Udan stole the spotlight at the Sports Ambassador and Players Trophy Secondary School Boys’ End-of-Term 30-Ball Eight-a-Side Tapeball Cricket Competition, delivering a commanding performance with both bat and ball to earn the coveted Player-of-the-Tournament title.
Tournament coordinator, James Lewis (fourth from right) hands over the Sports Ambassador and Player Trophy to Beterverwagting Secondary School captain upon winning the Secondary School End of Term championship.
The fast-paced tournament came to an exciting conclusion last Saturday at the Queen’s College ground, where Beterverwagting (BV) Secondary emerged victorious over St. Rose’s High in the final to secure the prestigious Sports Ambassador & Players Trophy.
Batting first, BV Secondary posted an impressive 62-1 from their allotted 30 balls, thanks largely to a blistering knock of 47 from Udan. His innings laid a solid foundation and set a challenging target.
When it was St. Rose’s turn at the crease, Udan once again proved instrumental—this time with the ball—snaring 3 wickets for 14 runs. His efforts helped bowl out St. Rose’s for 54 in just 27 deliveries, sealing the title for BV Secondary.
Udan’s all-round brilliance in the final rightfully earned him the Player-of-the-Tournament accolade.
In related news, the much-anticipated R&T Taxi Service Trophies Champion of Champions Schoolboys’ Tape Ball Competition got underway yesterday (Wednesday, April 16) at the same venue. Full coverage of that event will be featured in an upcoming edition.
