Canada-based Guyanese Imran Ali (102) inspires Sunshine to victory in Toronto
Jun 13, 2025
Kaieteur sports – Attacking, opening batsman and Canada-based Guyanese Imran Ali struck a boundary-studded 102 to inspire Sunshine to a commanding, 157-run win over Panthers in the continuation of the 2025 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association (ORSCA) Regular Season T20 competition.
The left-handed Ali clobbered 12 sixes and four fours to help Sunshine pile up a mammoth 254-3 from the allotment of 20-overs.
Panthers, in response, struggled to 97-8 at the expiration of the 20-overs.
Playing at Hanover Public School ground in Brampton (June 1), Ali also featured in a swashbuckling, 232-run first-wicket stand with Ramiz Mohamed who missed out on a century by a mere two runs.
Mohamed, a pugnacious right-hander, also faced equal number of balls (58) like Ali.
The Essequibian Mohamed’s innings was decorated with nine nonchalant sixes and three boundaries.
Their record-breaking partnership ended in the 17th over.
When Panthers batted, only Nun Shaw offered some resistance with 32.
They had a decent start with 34 runs on the board between Shaw and Arshdeep Saini (13) but when they were separated, the innings lost momentum after wickets kept falling frequently.
Khemraj Harrinarine a veteran right-arm bowler, collected four wickets for 28 from his maximum four overs, delivering for the victorious unit.
Meanwhile, 16 teams began participation two weeks ago and the action is slated to continue on Sunday with a legion of matches across the Greater Toronto Area.
Notably, a new champion to be crowned after last year’s winner Pegasus team is not participating on this occasion.
The curtains are set to come down late August.
