Kaieteur Sports – Aleka Persaud will make her second appearance at an Olympic Games today when she competes in the women’s 100m freestyle.

Persaud will be joined by another Caribbean swimmer, 16-year-old Tilly Collymore of Grenada, along with Rana Saadeldin from Sudan, Paige van der Westhuizen from Zimbabwe, and Botswana’s Maxine Egner.

The 18-year-old Persaud, who was Guyana’s youngest-ever Olympian when she competed at the Tokyo Games, holds the national record in the women’s 100m freestyle with a time of 1:00.67, set at last year’s World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
