“Mr. Dhurjon was one of the chief architects of Guyana’s post independent legislative landscape. He was the longest serving Chief Parliamentary Counsel of Guyana and arguably, the longest holder of such office in the entire Commonwealth. Mr. Dhurjon served Guyana with unmatched dedication for over four decades as Chief Parliamentary Counsel and in the drafting department of the Attorney General Chambers for over six decades,” said the Attorney General.
Nandlall said too that the former Chief Parliamentary Counsel served under every Attorney General of Guyana, including, him between 2011- 2015.
“He resigned at age 90! It will be near impossible in the foreseeable future for any other to surpass the number of legislation he would have worked on in his extraordinarily long career.
For his remarkable contribution, he was appropriately conferred with silk and two National Awards, the Golden Arrow of Achievement and the Cacique Crown of Honor. The legacy of his work will endure for generations to come,” Nandlall said as he extended condolences to Dhurjon’s family.
