BELIZE CITY, Fri. July 31, 2025
A Belize City woman received a 6-year sentence behind bars after being convicted of killing her common-law husband, 39-year-old Louis Adolphus, in August 2022.
Shantel Williams, 30, reportedly stabbed Adolphus with a knife at their shared residence on Curassow Street, during an argument that started between the two because she believed that Adolphus was having an affair with another woman, after she found text messages in his phone.
An injured Adolphus was found walking on the street by police and he related to them what had taken place; however, he passed away shortly after he requested to be taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.
In March this year, Williams was found guilty of manslaughter in a trial without a jury. Last Wednesday, July 30, she was sentenced to 6 years, 6 months, and 24 days in prison for Adolphus’ death.
She will be eligible for parole after serving half of her sentence, and is required to attend anger management counseling.
