NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Bahamian Olympian Stevie Gardiner has withdrawn from this year’s Olympic competition.

Eyewitness News understand that Gardiner warmed up and checked in for the men’s 400 meter heat, but did not appear when it was time to compete. It is still unclear why this decision was made.

The Bahamas Olympic Committee has shared the following update on social media:“We regret to announce that Steven Gardiner has withdrawn from the Paris 2024 competition. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Steven for his exceptional performances and for proudly representing The Bahamas throughout his career.”
