BELMOPAN, Tues. Sept. 2, 2025

Wilson Hernandez, 28, the owner of Selfie Lounge, was fatally shot by his brother’s girlfriend during a domestic dispute outside of his home in the Egoli area of Belmopan on Sunday, August 31.

According to reports, an initial quarrel broke out between Hernandez and his girlfriend, Dalia Vellos, 37, after she arrived home after 5:00 a.m. Sunday following a night out with friends.

This caused Hernandez to become suspicious, and prompted him to search Vellos’ purse, inside of which he reportedly found two condoms, which caused him to question her faithfulness. Vellos then proceeded to go into the room of Christy Guzman, 21, who resided at the residence, and is the common-law wife of Pedro Tzalam, who is Wilson Hernandez’s brother. She then reportedly asked Guzman to leave with her so they could avoid any further confrontation.

The two women then attempted to leave in Hernandez’s Chevy Equinox, but before they could do so, he stopped them, which resulted in an argument between him and Vellos. Footage of this exchange, which was captured by security cameras, then shows Vellos, at some point during the argument, handing a Compact Sig Sauer 9mm pistol to Guzman, after which Guzman reportedly fatally shot Hernandez once in the chest, killing him instantly.    Both women were detained at the Belmopan Police Station, and Guzman has since been charged with manslaughter for Hernandez’s death.
