BELIZE CITY, Wed. Oct. 15, 2025
Shemar Faber, 18, who was shot in early March of this year while inside a pickup with several other persons on the Philip Goldson Highway in Belize City, passed away on Tuesday, October 14as a result of his injuries.
Faber had been traveling with several other persons in the pickup when they were ambushed by someone in a passing car who blasted multiple gunshots at them. The now deceased driver of the pickup, Joseph Garcia, was able to drive quickly to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where the vehicle crashed into the front portion of the hospital. He died shortly after.
At that point, Garcia had been the only person in the pickup who lost his life as a result of the shooting. The other occupants of the vehicle, including Faber, had been wounded, however. Â
Since the incident occurred in March, Faber had been recovering from a gunshot wound in the back, but he suffered some setbacks, which led to him being hospitalized for several weeks until the day he passed away.
His death is a source of additional trauma for Faber’s family, who recently lost his mother, Shaniele Faber, whose body was found on October 4 in a garbage drum at the corner of Amandala Drive and Cemetery Road.   Police have yet to comment on Shemar Faber’s death.
