BELIZE CITY, Fri. Oct. 24, 2025
A woman was beaten to death inside her home in the early hours of Friday, October 24.
Around 3:00 a.m. that Friday, a group of men entered the residence of 35-year-old Delecia Flowers, on Complex Avenue in the Lake Independence area of Belize City, while she and her 14-year-old daughter were sleeping.
Both women were apparently bludgeoned with a metal object and were seriously injured. Flowers was later found lying unconscious on a sofa with a severe wound to the back of her head; and her teenage daughter was also found motionless with head injuries. They were both rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where Flowers succumbed during treatment, while her teenage daughter remains in a stable condition at the hospital.
There have been reports that several hours before the attack, around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, there had been an argument between Flowers’ teenage son and a group of men, which became a fight that was then disrupted by Flowers’ teen daughter, who reportedly had struck one of the men.
The men, before leaving the area, had reportedly made threats towards the siblings. Several hours later, early on Friday morning, a group of men reportedly entered the home of Flowers and brutally assaulted Flowers and her daughter before leaving their home.
So far this month, a total of five females tragically lost their lives as a result of violent acts. Earlier this month, 42-year-old Shaniele Faber was found dismembered in a drum on Amandala Drive; and a few days later, 26-year-old Keira Gentle was killed by her former boyfriend, who then killed himself. Subsequently, 35-year-old Angelita Magana died after being set on fire by her common-law husband, Francisco Godoy, who caused a blaze that also took the life of her 6-year-old son, Tishaun Godoy and her 17-year-old daughter, Shadia Magana, who suffered burns to 80% of her body and died days after the incident, as did the arsonist common-law, who also suffered burns in the fire he had started.
