No. 1 seed Edward P. Yorke boys will face #4 seed ACC in playoffs

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 24, 2025

   The Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) boys enjoyed their 4th victory, 43-24, over the St. John’s College boys in the final game of the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) basketball competition at the St. Catherine Academy Mercy Auditorium last Saturday afternoon, to win through to the CSSSA playoffs which begin at the Swift Hall in Belize City on Monday evening, November 24.

   Cesar Gamboa led ACC with 12 pts, Austin Villadares posted 9 pts, and Lemar Smith shot 6 pts. Jason Usher scored 5 pts, and Zayden Flowers added 4 pts. SJC’s Levaughn Reneau scored 10 pts, Ronnel Gonzalez put up 8 pts, and Sherman Joseph, O’rel Guy and Yandel Vasquez each tossed in a bucket.

   The Edward P. Yorke boys secured their playoff berth as the No.1 seed by their 7th win, 33-28, over the Maud Williams High boys on Saturday, November 15, led by Rajon Alvarez and Winder Ellington scoring 9 pts each. Tristenn Brown posted 8 pts, and Jadon Frazer added 5 pts. Jason Orosco led Maud Williams with 15 pts, and Russel Bailey scored 5 pts.

   Last Friday, the Wesley College boys clinched their playoff berth as the No. 2 seed by their 6th win, 37-30, over the Gwen Lizarraga boys, led by Deon Bennett’s 21 pts. Shamar Johnson scored 5 pts, while Anthony Garnett and Davian Cacho shot 4 pts apiece. Gwen Liz’s Ajare August struck twice outside the arc for 8 pts; and Trevor Cutkelvin, Davian Humes, Asher McKenzie, Shane Vernon and Malique Meighan scored 4 pts each.

   The Maud Williams High boys clinched their No. 3 berth in the playoffs as they enjoyed their 5th win, 37-34, over the Gwen Liz boys last Monday, November 17, led by Jason Orosco’s 17 pts, and Russel Bailey posted 14 pts. Ajare August led Gwen Liz with 12 pts, and Asher McKenzie scored 11 pts.

   The Sadie Vernon boys enjoyed their 2nd win last Friday, 54-44, over the Belize High School (BHS) boys, led by Zane Galvez’s 18 pts. Clive Medwood struck twice outside the arc for 12 pts, and Kyle Godoy scored 11 pts. Pierce Musa led BHS with 12 pts, Eddie Huang put up 9 pts, Arthur Usher posted 8 pts, and Jauhn Orosco scored 7 pts.

   The St. John’s College boys had enjoyed their 3rd win, 42-41, over the Sadie Vernon Technical boys last Tuesday, November 18, led by Ronnel Gonzalez’s 12 pts. Levaughn Reneau put up 11 pts, Kenmar Olivera posted 8 pts, and Kyron Staine shot 7 pts. Zane Galvez led Sadie Vernon with 19 pts, and Devon Augustine scored 6 pts.

No. 4 seed Anglican Cathedral College boys will face No. 1 seed E.P. Yorke in playoffs
