Haiti - Sports : FIFA notes improvements in football governance in Haiti

The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) announces that FIFA has decided to extend the mandate of the Normalization Committee until November 30, 2026. This decision is part of the ongoing efforts undertaken in recent years to stabilize, modernize, and reform the governance of Haitian football.

In its official correspondence, FIFA notably highlights :

• The progress of the process of revising the statutes and federal regulations, conducted with FIFA, CONCACAF, and FHF members;

• The implementation and expansion of the club licensing system, designed to guarantee high standards of management, transparency, and professionalism (https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-44251-icihaiti-sports-56-clubs-and-academies-in-the-country-licensed-list.html);

• Significant improvements in the Federation’s administrative operations, achieved despite a national environment marked by instability.

FIFA also noted significant sporting achievements, including :

• The first-ever qualification of the senior women’s national team for a World Cup finals, at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a historic milestone for Haitian women’s football https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39276-haiti-women-s-world-cup-victory-of-the-grenadieres-over-moldova-[3-1]-friendly-match-video.html ;

• The participation of the U-17 national team in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, reflecting the dynamism of youth football https://www.haitilibre.com/article-44296-haiti-flash-nos-grenadiers-u-17-qualifies-pour-la-coupe-du-monde-qatar-2025-video.html;

• The historic qualification of the men’s national team for the 2026 World Cup, a symbol of admirable collective resilience https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46239-haiti-flash-haiti-has-qualified-for-the-2026-world-cup-video.html

These results, mentioned by FIFA, demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the players, teams, clubs, technical staff, partners, and volunteers who work to maintain high standards, despite the exceptional challenges Haiti has faced.

FIFA emphasizes, however, that certain essential steps of the mandate, including the final adoption of the revised statutes and the organization of elections, could not be completed due to external factors beyond the Federation’s control, notably the political, security, and institutional crisis.

The Normalization Committee reaffirms its determination to pursue, with rigor and a sense of responsibility, the mission entrusted to it. As Haiti prepares to return to the world football stage, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) calls for unity, calm, and cooperation among all stakeholders in national football.
