Antigua & Barbuda’s delegation, led by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, has arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the 29th annual Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), running from November 11 to 22.
The Conference (COP29) has been has been hailed ‘The Finance COP’ as climate change is being labeled ‘the economy killer’.

It has already been a busy period for this country’s delegation as Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been engaged in high-level discussions. Those meetings include discussions with fellow Caribbean Heads and bilateral meetings with the Maltese delegation.
This country’s Climate Change Ambassador, Amb. Ruleta Camacho-Thomas, has expressed confidence delegates will agree to a bigger target for climate finance. Antigua & Barbuda’s team will be hoping for actioning of the UAE Agenda, mobilizing pledges toward the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance. It has been noted trillions of dollars will be needed to adequately underpin effective climate financing efforts.
