Guyana going to de dogs!

Dem Boys Seh, Features / Columnists, News
Kaieteur News – Wha dis country come to? Imagine, people now resorting to tiefing dog food. Yes, yuh hear right. Not steak, not chicken, but dog food. And not even the high-class dog food, but de cheapest one yuh could find. De lowest grade. De kinda dog food yuh wouldn’t even give yuh neighbour’s bad-tempered pitbull.
Man walk up to a dog food stand. Pick up a packet of dog food and walk off. De seller look confused. Now, yuh gotta ask yuhself, is dis where we reach?
Back in de day, tiefing was a serious ting. People would tief money, gold, even a man’s woman. But now, we tiefing dog food. Is wha really happenin’? Is like we gone mad.
De cost of living sky high. Bread price up. Vegetables, fruits and meat price gone up. People can’t afford to buy a lil piece a snapper fuh de pot. But when yuh see man tiefing dog food, yuh know things real bad.
De politicians dem in dem big house eatin’ fancy meals. Meanwhile, people outside can’t afford a lil pack a biscuit. And dem big boys in dem big cars, driving pass de man who just tief a pack a dog food. Yuh think dem care? Not one bit.
De situation getting worse. People losing hope. De only ting dat keeping some people going is de laughter. And even dat getting scarce. But when yuh see dem tiefing dog food, yuh gotta laugh. If not, yuh gon cry.
We need change. We need leaders who care. Not just fuh demself, but fuh de people. De real people. De people who can’t afford to buy a lil pack a dog food.
So, Dem Boys seh, if yuh see somebody tiefing dog food, don’t laugh too hard. Understand de struggle. Understand de pain. And most importantly, understand dis: Guyana need a change. A real change. Before we end up tiefing from de dogs.
Dat’s all fuh now. Keep safe. And keep yuh dog food close. Yuh never know who might need it next.
Talk half. Leff half.

Anderson finishes Test career with innings win over West Indies
Anderson finishes Test career with innings win over West Indies

SportsMax – James Anderson took a wicket in his final Test as England beat the West Indies by an innings and 114 runs yesterday.
The seamer was given an emotional guard of honour at the start of the day before getting the opening wicket, but it was Gus Atkinson who capped an impressive debut by taking the final three.
England needed four wickets to win after the West Indies finished day two with 79-6, and Anderson took little time to take his 704th and final wicket in his Test cricket career by bowling out Joshua Da Silva.
Atkinson then took two more in quick succession to keep the pressure on, with only Gudakesh Motie (31) able to reach double figures as West Indies struggled to gain any momentum.

It looked to be written in the stars for Anderson to complete the win as Motie chipped one back defensively, but he dropped it from close range after only reaching out one hand.
With the final ball before what was supposed to be a break, Atkinson got his 12th wicket of the Test, with Ben Duckett catching Jayden Seales at the boundary as the debutant finished with 5-61 to go with his first innings of 7-45.
Data Debrief: A legend bows out
The end of an era is upon us as Anderson bids an emotional farewell. After taking one wicket in the first innings, he followed it up with three more in the second, finishing with 704 in the longest format with 123 of those having come at Lord’s.
But Atkinson has provided hope for the future after a stellar debut which saw him finish on 12-106 over the three days – he is the first England bowler to claim 10+ wickets on debut in a home test since 1946.
He is also just the 19th male player to take a 10-fer on Test match debut, with his figures the fourth-best anyone has managed in their first match.
Scores: England 371 (Crawley 76, Smith 70, Root 68, Pope 57, Brook 50, Seales 4-77) beat West Indies 121 (Atkinson 7-45) and 136 (Atkinson 5-61, Anderson 3-32) by an innings and 114 runs.

“We are committed to ensuring more is given to players after last year, and we are making gradual steps to keep this promise as all the cash prizes were increased. GCB U17 50-Over Inter-county tournament
Kaieteur Sports – Mother Nature spoiled yesterday’s continuation of the GCB U17 50-Over Inter-county opening round at Queen’s College Ground.

As a result, focus shifts to the second round which gets underway today with likely a double-header, weather permitting.
At Lusignan Ground all systems are a go for action today between the in-form Berbicians who will be looking to keep their streak alive against a talented Select XI.
In town, Demerara will look to rebound against Essequibo at Queen’s College Ground; a game solely reliant on the weather.
The opening round saw Berbice warming up with a strong win over Demerara at Everest. Players like Romario Ramdehol, Afraz Budhoo, Romesh Bharrat and Micah Amsterdam will be keen on continuing their form for the Ancient County.
Meanwhile, Demerara stars in Vikash Wilkinson, Emmanuel Lewis, Dhanesh Persaud and Arun Gainda hit form and could look to use it as part of their comeback win strategy today.
