Kaieteur News – The party name for presidential hopeful, Azruddin Mohamed, was revealed on Thursday outside the Guyana Elections Commission by representative Charles Sugrim.
Sugrim told the media that the party is called “We Invest in Nationhood (WIN)”, while declaring that they will win the September 1, 2025 elections.
Later in the evening, the party’s symbol was revealed, it featured the party’s acronym ‘WIN’, in capital letters, coloured blue, black and white with a picture of the national animal, the jaguar, next to it.
On May 27, this publication reported that the businessman had announced his candidacy for the upcoming Regional and General Elections, a move that will likely shake up the local political dynamics and draw intense scrutiny from the ruling PPP/C administration.
Mohamed and his father are currently under US sanctions for allegedly smuggling gold out of Guyana. The younger Mohamed is also charged with alleged false declaration on several luxury vehicles he imported here in recent years.
In a recorded video posted on his Team Mohamed’s Facebook page, Mohamed had said that he stands ready to raise his hand, “put my shoulder to the task, and dedicate my mind and heart to building a world-class Guyana where every citizen is treated equally, not through buzzwords, but through the hard work of rebuilding trust and forging genuine harmony.” Since then, he has been on the ground campaigning, drawing sizeable crowds across the country. In recent days, Mohamed has intensified his outreaches in Amerindian communities.
