This is according to a statement by the contractor St8tment Investment Inc. who in a release on Thursday said that only minor works are remaining to complete the project.

“With only minor electrical installations, lighting fixtures, and limited plumbing work remaining, the school is on the verge of being handed over,” the release stated.

A recent inspection conducted by the Regional Executive Officer (REO), Mr. Dwight John, other regional authorities and Project Consultant Mr. Rudolph Anthony (from E&A Consultants Inc.) confirmed that construction is progressing at a satisfactory standard, the company disclosed.

The contract for the Bamia Primary School was awarded to St8tment Investment Inc. in November 2021. Since then, the project has experienced several delays due to a range of challenges, including labour shortages, increased material costs, and unfavourable weather conditions. These setbacks collectively impacted the original timeline and contributed to extensions, the contractor mentioned.

When completed, the modern educational building will include 44 classrooms, a fully equipped gymnasium, an auditorium, a science laboratory, a music room, a library, smart classrooms, and modern restroom facilities.

Commenting on the school project, a representative of the company, Kerwin Bollers in the release expressed that “We are proud to have brought this project to its final stage and look forward to officially handing it over to the Region and the young minds who will benefit from it.”

This publication had reported that the project started some three years ago and has since missed four deadlines for completion. St8ment Investment Inc. was incorporated in March of 2021 and its principals are Rawle Ferguson and Kerwin Bollers of Hits and Jams Entertainment along with Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major and Kashif Muhammed of the Kashif and Shanghai football tournament.

At the time of the signing, the project was expected to be completed within 20 months, that being completed by July 2023. However, the contractor was unable to finish the project, and was given a several deadlines to complete the works.

It was reported that the project was signed for $346 million and in 2024, the National Assembly approved some $127 million more to go towards completing the school.
