Chinese companies bid over US$20M to design & build new medicine lab & office complex

Kaieteur News-The Ministry of Health will soon sign a contract for the design and construction of a medicine regulatory and laboratory and office complex.
The project, which went out to tender through the national bidding process, now has two Chinese contractors competing for the contract.
At the reading of bids on Tuesday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office it was revealed that CAMCE – Sinopharmintl consortium bid US$22,094,220.89, while Shangdong High-Speed Dejian Group Company Limited bid US$23,676,720 for the project.
It was reported that during this year’s budget presentation, Senior Minister with the responsibility for Finance in the Office of the President, Dr. Ashni Singh revealed that some $2.9 billion has been set aside in this year’s budget for that project, among others.
“Design and construct a Medicines Regulatory Laboratory and Office Complex, a national neurological rehabilitation centre and a centre of excellence for cancer treatment for which a sum of $2.9 billion is budgeted,” he announced last month.
