The Corozal Elite FC girls and the defending Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) champions, Sagitun Girlz enjoyed big wins in Week 9 of the Westline Premier Women’s League of Belize 2025-2026 Opening Season, organized by the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) at Carolina Field on Saturday, November 22, and the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Sunday evening, November 23.
At the Carolina Field on Saturday afternoon, Kaite Jones’ brace (4’ & 70’) and Josefin “Pippin” Reyes’ brace (64’ & 90’) led Corozal Elite FC’s 5-1 victory over the 5-time National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) champions, Jewel Fury, with Dania Villa (40’) scoring the 2nd goal for the winners. Shamika Lambey (55’) scored Jewel Fury’s sole tally. Corozal Elite now ranks 3rd in the league with 17 pts from 5 wins and 2 draws in 9 outings.
At the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Sunday, Mikhaila Bowden (17’) and Kenya Perez (85’) secured Sagitun Girlz’ 2-1 win over the league leading Napoles FC, for whom Khalydia Velasquez (33’) scored their only goal. It was Napoles’ first loss, as they continue to lead the league with 24 pts from 8 wins, while Sagitun Girlz rank 2nd with 22 pts from 7 wins and a draw.
In Week 8, Jewel Fury had enjoyed their 3rd win, 2-0, over the Jaguar Girls at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on November 15, with goals by Aubrey Wagner (8’) and an own goal by Jaguar Girls’ defender Kiana Lewis (57’ OG) who inadvertently sent the ball into her own net.
The Sagitun Girlz had also enjoyed their 6th win, 2-0, over the Corozal Elite girls at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium on November 15, with goals by Primilee Hope (47’) and Sabrina Eiley (79’).
The PWLB season takes a FIFA break this weekend, while the senior national women’s team takes on Haiti at the FFB Stadium on Sunday night, November 30.
