State Media: Police have charged 27-year-old Golden Grove resident Alexta Francis with the murder of St Peter Member of Parliament, Hon. Asot Michael. The murder charge follows his confession to investigators who had been questioning him since his arrest on Thursday.
Francis reportedly showed investigators key evidence and also insisted he had no accomplice. The motive for the fatal stabbing of the MP is expected to be ventilated during the pending court proceedings against him.
Francis has reportedly had previous run-ins with law, including Malicious Damage and Escaping Lawful Custody.
This is a major development within days of the MP’s murder, which sent shockwaves across the nation. Michael, who was an independent legislator, was found in a pool of blood in his Dry Hill home on Tuesday.
