Guyanese youth triumphs at baking competition in BVI

Kaieteur News- Shania Sampson, the talented 21-year-old Guyanese youth and owner of Triple S Creations based in Kwakwani, Region 10, Sub District #2, has achieved well deserved recognition at the Caribbean Baking Awards 2025.
Her creative flair was recognized as she took home the coveted title for the Best Buttercream Cake award at Caribbean baking competition held earlier this month in British Virgin Islands (BVI).

In addition, Sampson earned nominations for Best Wedding Cake and People’s Choice Award, further solidifying her presence on the Caribbean baking scene.
This achievement is a significant milestone for the young baker, who launched Triple S Creations just over a year ago.
She told The Waterfalls that her Buttercream Cake was created, with a focus of showcasing the beauty of Guyanese culture.
She explained that “A lot of thought went into every detail of this design. Starting from the bottom tier, it represents Guyana – the land of many waters. The second tier highlights the six races of Guyana, and the faces you see aren’t just random — they are actually my friends, which made this tier even more special to me.
“The third tier,” she said “represents Phagwah, a well-known and vibrant holiday we celebrate in Guyana. The fourth tier proudly displays our Golden Arrowhead, our national flag.”
“Finally, the top tier represents our newfound oil wealth, with a marble fondant design to symbolize its richness. The cake is crowned with a ‘One Guyana’ topper, reminding us all that we are One People, One Nation, One Destiny,” the baker added.
Sampson told The Waterfalls that her journey into the world of cake decorating began during her teenage years when she developed a passion for the art.
Although she faced initial doubts about the profitability of her passion, her determination led her to pursue cake decorating classes.
Armed with borrowed tools and a makeshift setup, Shania embarked on her entrepreneurial journey.
The road was not without its challenges, but her perseverance and the support of her local community transformed Triple S Creations into a profitable and thriving business.

With her business currently based in Region 10, Sampson’s catering business has rapidly become a go-to option for various events, with a special focus on birthday parties.
Looking ahead, Sampson is focused on growing her business even further. She envisions Triple S Creations becoming a Caribbean wide sensation, offering a wide range of cakes that leave a lasting impression on clients.
Beyond her business ambitions, Sampson is also pursuing higher education, aiming to earn a bachelor’s degree in business management to further enhance her entrepreneurial skills.
