Kaieteur News – Nowadays when yuh apply fuh wuk dem company does want interview yuh. And dem does ask you all kind of question. Is like dem does want know yuh education background, yuh family history, your experience, your dietary preferences. When some of dem interviewers done question you, you does know thing about yuhself that you did not know before.
But deh does gat one question that does fret dem boys. You looking fuh a job and yuh desperate and dem gone ask you what salary yuh looking for. Is like if yuh call a sum that is too low, dem gan agree and you shortchange yuhself. And if yuh call a figure too high, yuh nah gan get de wuk.
It remind dem boys of de time a young engineer come back from foreign and apply fuh a wuk in Georgetown. At de end of de interview, de Human Resource officer ask he:
“So, what kinda salary yuh looking fuh?”
De bai puff up he chest and seh: “Well, in de region of $725,000 a month… dependin’ on de benefits.”
De Human Resource Officer lean back and seh: “Alright… how ’bout five weeks’ vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, pension plan with 50% match, and every two years we buy a brand-new red Mercedes fuh yuh?”
De engineer jump up excited: “Fuh real? Yuh serious?”
De Human Resource man laugh and seh: “Na man, ah jus’ joking. But yuh start it wid dat $725,000 talk!”
