Observer by Newsco: Amid a flood of high-profile resignations and comments attacking his leadership, the Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP) Hon Jamale Pringle told supporters in a defiant tone that, like the 1993 Elton John song said, “I am still standing”.

The UPP held a political rally on Thursday night at the Sea View Farm playing field—the constituency which is now at the heart of a legal challenge by the UPP over their former ally Anthony Smith Jr’s move to become an independent MP.
The rally also served as a rallying call to its supporters to stand by its leaders, with some of its top leaders highlighting the “failures” of the Gaston Browne administration on transparency, agriculture, utilities and infrastructure.
Pringle, in his speech, declared to his supporters that he remains unbowed despite recent political challenges.
“I’ve battled against those who would see our united movement crushed,” Pringle told the gathering, adding “they’ve thrown everything at me, thinking I would break.”
The Political Leader has seen a number of high-profile members exit the party stage, declaring their concerns with the direction of the party and a number of other internal issues in various media interviews.

Pringle, seeking to show force to his party faithful, portrayed himself as having been “forged in the fire of political warfare” from his early days as the sole opposition MP from All Saints East and Saint Luke to his current position in Parliament.
