Kaieteur News – Dem boys seh Guyanese got energy, plenty energy. But not fuh oil.
De whole town like dem come out fuh Azmo last Saturday – man, woman, pickney, and even lil dog come out to stand beside de man. Dem come out not fuh mash up de law but fuh save it. People gat a sense of when something is right and when is wrong and dem does stand by you when dem feel you are being wronged and taken advantage of.
Dat is why dem boys can’t understand why de same thing nah happening with we oil. Weh de same passion deh? Weh de chants and placards? Weh de whistle and vuvuzela? Nobody ain’t even bring one pot and spoon fuh knock!
Everybody deh fighting fuh AZMO but when Exxon and dem crew tekking out oil like is sugar water, nobody ain’t seh “Aye!” Dem get sweet-mouth, and now dem get amnesia.
Dem boys seh if de oil was a lil piece of land, yuh woulda hear bare noise. But because it swimming deep down in de ocean, everybody acting like it don’t exist. Yet every month dem waiting fuh lil cash grant and groaning when de dollar done de same day.
One man seh he ain’t protesting cause he don’t understand de contract. Well hear this: if yuh neighbour digging up yuh backyard, carrying away yuh gold, and leaving yuh wid de bill fuh clean up, do you need to understand more?
Dem boys seh is only in Guyana people does fight fuh court but not fuh food. Fuh AZMO, dem line up. Fuh de oil, dem lie down. Fuh de rule of law, dem ready to rumble. Fuh dem share of paradise? Silence like cemetery on Sunday.
Dem boys seh it look like people feel oil money is like breeze—blowing, but not fuh dem. So de politicians and de oil company dancing to de bank while we deh playing de fool in de corner.
Come on people, de time fuh protest was yesterday. De time fuh yawn done.
