Kaieteur News – Young entrepreneurs have related to this magazine the countless reasons why they started their own small business, whether it is to live out their childhood dream, help provide a service to society in some way or bring about an income for themselves.

In the case of Joshua Emptage, starting his gadget repair business is a way of building a better life for not only him but his child. His small business, Jay’s Tech World was started in 2021.
Emptage who hails from Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD) related to this publication that, “I’m a simple person from the ghetto, I start working young because I love money and I don’t like to beg, always wanted a better life and have it.”
When asked what led him to his gadget repairing business, the young man said he always wanted to do something important in life and at the same time work for himself. As someone who like his gadgets, his interest lies there and that he said was a bonus to starting this field of business.
“My skills were self-taught from watching people and experimenting on my own stuff,” he explained. Having garnered the skills from watching others, Emptage said he decided to open his own spot. According to him, he currently operates at his Mocha Arcadia home and a stall at Stabroek Market.

Some of his services include repairs to all cell phones, tablets, and computers, he offers Google and iCloud account unlocking, network unlocking and he has accessories and devices available for sale.
With four years being in the business realm, the young man disclosed that the support for his work has always been incredible from clients and those closest to him.
Confirming that business is not always good at times, he added that some challenges he has dealt with is locating parts and the pricing of replacement parts. Questioned how he has managed to overcome these obstacles, he noted by connecting with foreign suppliers for his parts.
Speaking about future plans for his business, the young man noted that his long term is to have a shop in every region.
Meanwhile, he is of the view that young entrepreneurs like him are important because as long as you work hard anything is possible. “Young entrepreneur plays one of the most important parts in society which is showing that it’s possible as long as you work hard for it, age shouldn’t be an obstacle,” he expressed.
