Kaieteur News- As part of its commitment to supporting customers and enhancing workforce readiness, MACORP said it recently facilitated a comprehensive 3516 Generator Set Operator Training Program for ten employees of Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL).
The staff represented operations in Berbice, Kwakwani, and Essequibo. According to a press release by MACORP, this initiative was designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude required to operate CAT generator sets safely and efficiently, in alignment with manufacturer-recommended best practices.
The intensive two-day training included both classroom instruction and hands-on practical sessions. Participants were guided through critical concepts and demonstrated their proficiency in key operational areas, including: power Generation Safety Procedures; operator Roles and Responsibilities; overview and System Principles of the CAT 3516 Generator Set; identification and Function of Generator Set Components; pre-Start Inspections & Start-up Procedures; load Management and Operational Monitoring and shutdown and Post-Operation Protocols.
Miguel Oviedo, Training Manager at MACORP, says MACORP is proud to provide technical support to GPL and other clients to ensure efficiency in their operations. Each participant underwent a competency certification process at the conclusion of the training, ensuring they are prepared to apply what they’ve learned on the job with confidence and professionalism. This group from GPL was part of an 85-member training taking place at MACORP. Other persons are being trained as Technicians, Excavator and Forklift Operators, readily executed by MACORP.
“We remain committed to delivering continuous technical support and capacity-building opportunities, empowering our customers and teams to maintain peak performance and safety across their operations,” Oviedo said.
