Corozal Elite FC won, 3-1, vs Jewel Fury

By William Ysaguirre (Freelance Writer)

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 6, 2025

Undefeated Napoles FC and Corozal Elite FC continue to lead the Westline Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB), as both squads enjoyed big wins in Week 4 of the tournament organized by the Football Federation of Belize on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5.

On Saturday afternoon at the FFB Stadium, the Corozal Elite FC enjoyed their 3rd win, 3-1, over the 5x National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) champions, Jewel Fury. Dania Villa (23’) opened the scoreboard for the visitors, and Joselyn “Pippin” Reyes and football phenom Kaite Jones pressed for more goals, supported by Alisha Terry, Norelly Herrador and Brianna Menjivar at midfield. But veteran Mariela Gonzalez anchored the Jewels’ defense with the help of Julie Ponce, Janivi Quiroz and Hope Evans to help goalkeeper Maura Gonzalez keep it a 1-0 ball game up to the half.

Down at the other end, Shamika Lambey and ShaylaLee Flowers led the Jewels’ counterattack, supported by team captain Vaylene Lambert, Shadette Lino, Tory Ramirez and Aubrey Wagner. But the Corozal defenders Ximena Flores, Geidy Andrade, Kelsy Polanco and Nelsy Cano helped goalkeeper Crusita Cervantes keep a clean slate up to intermission.

After the break, Jewels’ coach Wayne Casimiro introduced Alysha Reymundo, Ophelia Casimiro, Karel Avila and veterans Beatrice Alfaro and Anijay Quiroz to relieve Wagner, Ponce, Ramirez, and Evans. But Reyes (56’) increased Corozal’s lead to 2-0, and Jones (64’) bent it like Beckham on a corner kick to sail the ball over Maura Gonzalez’s gloves just inside the far post: 3-0. Corozal’s coach Raijon Cano refreshed his attack formation with Sheyla Castellanos and Adamaris Jimenez, and only Alysha Reymundo (65’) scored a consolation goal for Jewel Fury.

On Saturday evening, Napoles upset the defending champions, Sagitun Girlz on their home turf at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, 2-0, with goals by Roshany Narvaez (12’) and Khalydia Velasquez (17’).

At the Norman Broaster Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Tiffany Cal’s hat trick (60’, 75’ & 81’) led the Jaguar Girls’ 7-0 rout of the Cayo Dreamers, with other goals by Kiana Lewis (36’), Amina Burgess (56’), Jaxhann Waight (62’) and Deborah Gordon (72’).
