Kaieteur News – President Dr. Irfaan Ali traveled to Brasilia, Brazil on Friday to attend the Brazil–Caribbean Summit 2025.
The Head-of-State was received by Brazil’s Foreign Minister, the Honourable Mauro Vieira.
President Ali is joined by a number of regional leaders and representatives in the Brazilian capital.
The Head-of-State participated in a plenary meeting on the first day of the Summit. He also delivered remarks at the summit.
The two-day summit, themed “Bringing Together to Unite,” reflects its focus on strengthening cooperation between Brazil and the Caribbean in response to shared challenges.
The agenda prioritises five key areas: food and nutrition security, climate change, energy transition, disaster risk management, and connectivity.
CARICOM member states, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, along with key international organisations such as the Inter-American Development Bank and the Association of Caribbean States, are being represented at the event.
