Kaieteur Sports- After three days of intense competition, President’s College emerged as the champions of the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
President’s College won the inaugural National Secondary School Championships.
The event concluded last evening at the National Track and Field Centre, where secondary school athletes from across the country showcased their talent and left spectators thoroughly impressed.
Heading into the final day of competition, President’s College trailed Mackenzie High School by 24.5 points.
The Linden school (Mackenzie High) led the standings with 171.5 points, while President’s College held 147 points. Christianburg Wismar Secondary sat in third place with 117.33 points, as the top three schools battled fiercely for the title.
However, in a remarkable turn of events, President’s College surged ahead on the final day, amassing a total of 257 points to clinch the championship trophy, while Mackenzie High School finished close second with 253.50 points.
Christianburg Wismar Secondary settled for third-place, scoring 197.33 points. St. Ignatius Secondary claimed fourth place with 129 points, while Mahaicony Secondary rounded out the top five with 100 points.
