Milo/Massy U18 Schools’ Football Tournament…
Kaieteur Sports- The intensity of secondary school football reaches new heights as the Milo/Massy Under-18 Championship advances to its knockout phase. Sixteen of the nation’s top school teams will clash in the Round of 16 at the Ministry of Education Ground today and tomorrow, all in pursuit of the prestigious title and an enticing $300,000 cash prize.

Now in its 11th edition, the tournament commenced with 24 teams, but after three fiercely contested rounds, a few teams were eliminated last weekend, only the strongest have survived. The two highest-ranked teams from each group earned automatic qualification to the knockout rounds, while the remaining squads battled their way through to claim a coveted spot in the final sixteen.
The schools still in contention for glory include Waramuri Secondary, South Ruimveldt, New Amsterdam, Santa Rosa Secondary, Charlestown, West Ruimveldt, Abram Zuil, Dolphin, Yarrowkabra, Chase’s Academic Foundation, Three Mile, Hope Secondary, Bushlot, Ann’s Grove, and Bartica Secondary. Each of these teams will be eager to make a statement as they strive for quarterfinal berths.
The pressing round of 16 action kicks off at MoE ground. The knockout stage begins today with four gripping encounters. Reigning champions Chase’s Academic Foundation, boasting an unblemished record so far, will look to maintain their dominance when they take on Bartica Secondary at 12:00 noon in the opening fixture. At 1:30 pm, New Amsterdam Secondary will battle Charlestown Secondary in what promises to be a thrilling contest. The third match of the day sees Ann’s Grove Secondary up against a determined Dolphin Secondary outfit, while Waramuri Secondary and South Ruimveldt Secondary will bring the day’s action to a close with a highly anticipated showdown. Four more intense clashes is also billed for Sunday at the same venue.
The 11th edition of the tournament is approaching what is expected to be an intriguing culmination.
With everything on the line, expect nothing less than fierce competition, skillful plays, and intense drama as the teams fight for a place in the quarterfinals.
