Guyana’s diverse bowling attack yielded success as Brandon Henry (2-18), Jathneil Nurse (2-18), Reyaz Latif (2-31), Rafeal McKenzie (2-26) and Patrice Fraser (2-47) had brilliant spells, which kept Trinidad to 168 all out in 48.4 overs.

Opener Jordan Julien grinded for his 53 off 99 with just three fours and a six, while his partner at the top, David Guerra (32) with 12 runs apiece from Ethan Ramcharan and Samuel Stuart, doing just enough to help the Trinidadians cross the 150-run mark.

The Guyanese in reply ended handsomely on 171-4 off 41.5 overs after Ramdheol carried the innings with his 64 not out off 88 deliveries with 8 fours.

Henry returned to score 39 not out with 2 fours, while opener Justin Dowlin set the tone with 31. Ramcharan grabbed two wickets as the most successful bowler for Trinidad and Tobago

Guyana got off to a good start before losing Lomar Seecharran (21), followed by two quick top order wickets, which left them 48-3 before the likes of Ramdheol and Henry finished the job with ease.

Windward Islands beat the Leeward Islands by 8 wickets, while Barbados hammered Jamaica by a 9-wicket deficit, as part of Round 1’s action.

The Guyanese will play Jamaica on Thursday in the next round. (Clifton Ross)
