St Stanislaus, St Rose’s, and St Joseph High shine on opening day of Cheddi Jagan Memorial Windball Championship

Kaieteur Sports- The Georgetown leg of the Cheddi Jagan Memorial Schoolboys 5-over Windball Championship got off to an electrifying start at the National Gymnasium, with St Stanislaus College, St Rose’s High, and St Joseph High securing dominant victories on the opening day.

In the first match, St Rose’s High set a formidable target of 105-3, thanks to an outstanding knock of 54 runs by Narindra Isurdeen. Joshua Sharma provided solid support, contributing 38 runs.
Tucville Secondary struggled in response, as St Rose’s bowlers put on a clinical display to restrict them to 59-2. Mark July (25) and Wesley Cox (16) were the only batters to reach double figures, as St Rose’s secured a commanding 46-run victory.
Newcomers Houston Secondary faced a tough challenge against a well-drilled St Stanislaus College team. Batting first, Houston managed 55-2, with Nichols Archer impressing on debut with a stylish 30 runs, featuring five sixes.
However, St Stanislaus made light work of the chase, reaching their target in just two overs. Ishon Haricharan starred with an explosive 24-run knock to seal a comfortable win.
Over in the third match, St Joseph High posted a competitive total of 100-4, led by Savir Narine’s crucial 37 runs. Prem Budram was the standout bowler for Kingston Secondary, picking up 2-11.
Despite a fighting effort from Joshua Pompey, who scored a valiant 42, Kingston Secondary fell short, finishing at 89-0, handing St Joseph High an 11-run victory.

St Stanislaus College continued their winning streak with a dominant performance against Cummings Lodge Secondary. An impressive 122-run opening partnership between Ishon Haricharan (65, including seven sixes) and Nitin Bhogwandat (56) powered them to an imposing total.
Cummings Lodge Secondary struggled in response, managing only 72-1 as they fell short by 50 runs.
Meanwhile, in the lone fixture of the Janet Jagan Memorial Schoolgirls competition, St Rose’s High cruised to victory over Cummings Lodge Secondary by 10 wickets.
Batting first, Cummings Lodge posted 49-3, with Rena Thomas top-scoring with 10 runs. However, St Rose’s chased down the target effortlessly, reaching 51 without loss, courtesy of an impressive display from Miel Campbell.
The tournament is being organized by Sports Officer Allistar Munroe and promises more thrilling encounters in the coming days.
