BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Aug. 21, 2025

The body of a male minor was today retrieved from the Belize River after he seemingly drowned on Wednesday, August 20, while swimming in the Lords Bank area.

The minor was identified as Kayleb Bradley, 17, a resident of Lords Bank Village in the Belize District.

According to reports, Bradley went out for a swim with some friends in the area, and sometime after 3:00 p.m. that Wednesday, he jumped into the river and remained submerged under the water —at no point resurfacing. A search was immediately conducted, but his body was not recovered that day.

The search continued into the following day, when, shortly before 8:00 a.m., Bradley’s body was found floating and was recovered from the Belize River.

He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
