Dem Boys Seh, Letters

Kaieteur News- Dem boys seh if yuh stand up in de middle of Georgetown fuh five minutes, yuh gon realize something—de city got more cars than people! Is like every man, woman, and dem pet dog get a vehicle. Yuh cyan even cross de road in peace without risking yuh life.

Dem traffic light deh fuh show off, but people still driving like dem color-blind. Red light mean “stop” but some people think it mean “hurry up before it turn green again!”. And dem minibus men? Well, dem does tek shortcut through time and space.

Every single day, dem got accident. Is like people wake up and seh, “Lemme see who I could bounce today.” Bumper-to-bumper traffic in rush hour? Yuh bettah believe it. And if rain fall, oh gawd, is like dem drivers does lose dem senses.

Dem boys seh we need bout 100 traffic warden in de city alone—one fuh every 100 reckless driver. Put dem pon every main street corner like soldier pon duty. Let dem direct traffic like orchestra conductor, because right now, de whole roadways playing one big outta tune symphony of horns, cuss words, and near-misses.

And while we at it, mek some of dem street one-way. Too much two-way street causing nuff two-way cussing and three-way collision. Some people cyan decide if dem going left, right, or straight—so dem just go all three direction at once.

Dem boys seh we always hearing bout “smart city” but we cyan even get smart traffic management. By now, we shoulda had self-driving cars—dat way, at least one thing on de road woulda had common sense!

Until den, dem boys seh de best advice fuh drivers in dis country when dem leff home: Close yuh eyes, say yuh prayers, and hope de next man know how fuh drive.

Talk half. Leff half
